Jeremy Clarkson: The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm Future in Question As Amazon “Not Happy”

It’s been one hell of a week for The Grand Tour presenter Jeremy Clarkson as he feels the reaction of his controversial Meghan Markle column. Not only did readers of the column go crazy over his comments, but now it looks as though Clarkson’s Farm and even the car show may be in jeopardy thanks to recent quotes from an Amazon insider.

His column explained his severe dislike for Markle, to the point where even his daughter called him out on it. He wrote:

“At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.”

Emily Clarkson responded quickly on her Instagram page of 184,000 followers: “My views are and have always been clear when it comes to misogyny, bullying and the treatment of women by the media. I want to make it very clear that I stand against everything that my dad wrote about Meghan Markle and I remain standing in support of those that are targeted with online hatred.”

The police has even got involved, explaining that they’ll be “keeping an eye”:

“I think there is a line to be drawn. It’s not for the police to get involved if it’s anything about is it ethical? is it moral? is it proper? is it offensive?

“The legal lines are only crossed, generally, when things are said that are intended or likely to stir up or incite violence. I don’t think this is one of those cases, but of course we will keep a close eye on it.”

But now, talking to Small-Screen, an unnamed source said the following:

“Amazon has put a lot of trust, time and money into Clarkson and his projects. However, their patience with him following his recent column in The Sun might be coming to an end.”

They were further asked about how this could affect Jeremy’s shows, Clarkson’s Farm and The Grand Tour:

“It’s a waiting game. The next seasons [of Clarkson’s Farm and The Grand Tour] are still ‘officially’ moving ahead, but Clarkson’s never been in so much trouble with the company and they are not happy.

“These shows aren’t all just about Jeremy, but he does like to make things about himself, and that makes the next steps very hard indeed for Amazon.”

It’s no surprise that questions about the presenter’s future are being asked, so we’ll be keeping a keen eye on what comes from this.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
