Jeremy Clarkson Raises £16,000 For Local Charity As Clarkson’s Farm Cast Get Involved

Jeremy Clarkson has helped raise £16,000 for the local Chipping Norton open-air swimming pool by auctioning off a number of experiences with the Clarkson’s Farm cast.

Tractor lessons with Kaleb Cooper was number one on the list fetching £1,100, with a beer drinking session at Jeremy’s brewery another favourite from those who went to the event. Other products and experiences up for grabs included a six-month supply of eggs, pony riding, beer tasting at Hook Norton Brewery and a classic car experience.

The auction was hosted by The Grand Tour presenter last Friday at the Chipping Norton Town Hall, and with the pool being run by a local charity since 2004, the auction was important for the future of the pool with rising energy costs that have “hit the lido hard”.

Coming in at 25m long, the pool was opened in 1970, but in 2003 it lost its government funding. 2014 bought a £75,000 restoration with £60,000 from Sport England and community fundraising.

Clarkson has hosted the auction each year since 2007 and has supported the pool since. Tickets this time were £20 per person

Lido trustee Claire Jarvis told the press:

“It’s a long-postponed night of fevered bidding and top class entertainment to raise vital funds for the community-run pool.

“The audience is promised an unmissable event that will help the pool withstand the current energy crisis and remain open to the public.”
