Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James Reveal Who’s The Better Driver: The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour is not low on competition as presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May each fight over who’s right, who’s fastest, and who’s got the best ideas. So when they’re finally asked who the better drive of the three is by LadBible, I was keen to listen to what they had to say.

LadBible through this question at them from fans, and of course, it caused quite a stir between the trio.

Clarkson’s Farm Season 2 Officially Confirmed By Jeremy Clarkson In Hilarious Video

“It depends how you define best driver,” says Clarkson. “I mean, if you come out of a pub and you’re wasted and you want to get home smoothly without being sick I would say James May is the best driver.

“If you want to get round a racetrack as quickly as possible then that would be me.

“And if you want to know what it’s like in the back of an air ambulance it would be Richard Hammond.”

Hammond has been the butt of more jokes since it was revealed that he flipped a boat upside down in the upcoming episode of The Grand Tour, aptly named Lochdown.

“Essentially I was pulling a big platform with Jeremy on it on a little tiny fishing boat and I tied the rope to one side and long story short I gave it a little bit of a throttle and it started to rock,” Hammond said on the subject.

“If it had been a stunt it would have been two days work and stunt coordinators and it never would have been as good. It sinks in about 10 seconds.”

When it comes to the best driver however, Richard Hammond is keen that it’s himself:

‘Er, it’d be me.” Hammond says with a straight face. “Yeah, I’m pretty confident that both the other two will agree.

“They’ll have to agree, but it’s me.”

In stark contrast, James begins his answer by eliminating the obvious:

“We can rule Richard Hammond out because, sort of 20% of the time he ends up on the roof.

“Jeremy is better than me at driving around a track.

“You would want me driving if you were being taken to your wedding or a state occasion.”

I’m sure fans of the show like myself will have strong opinions on the matter. I have an inkling that James is faster than he admits, but with his nickname Captain Slow, I don’t ever think we’ll find out if this is actually true…

Alex Harrington

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
