Richard Hammond Congratulates James May On Massive Grand Tour Crash: “Well Done For Not Dying”

The latest Grand Tour special has been released on Prime Video, where the hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, travel around Norway in their choice of rally car.

There has been a lot of press around May’s horrendous high-speed crash which left him with a broken rib, which happened when the trio had to travel as fast as they could through a tunnel when the lights only turned on as they drove through it. May lost control of his Mitsubishi EVO and slammed into the wall at the end of the tunnel.

Clarkson had done his run of the tunnel first so was at the end when May had the collision. We heard Clarkson saying “it’s a big one” as he ran over to help. May managed to get himself out of the car as the medics arrived, with blood coming from his nose. The medic explained to May:

“I need to get an ambulance in to check you out.”

Clarkson was in the meantime explaining to Hammond what had happened:

“I saw his head clobber the side of the pillar. He went flying. He went in sideways into this wall.”

Viewers were still able to hear May when he was in the ambulance. We could hear him struggling with the pain and explaining to the paramedics:

“It hurts on the back of my back.”

Clarkson asked May how he was feeling to which May responded:

“A bit s**t. The car is f****d, isn’t it?”

Unsurprisingly, Clarkson and Hammond kept things lighthearted with Clarkson responding with “You won’t be driving it out of here” and Hammond joking “Well done for not dying”.
