The Grand Tour Heads To Race Track For New Episode As Clarkson And Co. Race Formula Cars

The Grand Tour is slowly making its way to the West of Poland, and after some detective work, we know that they’ve been at a race track racing open-wheeled racecars.

A post was published to Instagram showing Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May standing next to and sitting in a number of open-wheeled racecars shaped like historic F1 cars. Originally posted by @terenwizja, the post was later deleted but screenshotted by @richard_hammond_tr, a fan account that’s been following the show’s Polish adventure.

The photos, which show off a number of RC car-mounted cameras and the cars, documents the presenters lowering themselves into the single-seaters for what we assume is a race. But what race track is this?

After some investigating, I confirmed that they had travelled down from Gdansk – which I reported earlier this week – to Zielona Gora, a city in the Lubusz province of the country. It’s known for its endless vineyards, which I’m sure Clarkson, Hammond, and May would be ecstatic about.

From here, I matched the photos from Instagram with photos of the local race tracks, and low and behold, I got a match.

They’re at the Tor Poznań racetrack, which is known to be incredibly flat with little to no elevation changes. Found in the city of Poznan, the track was potentially going to be used within the F1 calendar when the first Polish F1 driver, Robert Kubica, made his debut in the sport. Unfortunately, this never came to fruition. But this does give us a potential plot for this section of the next Grand Tour episode.

Is The Grand Tour going to be making a piece on why this Polish track should be added to the F1 calendar? After the Russian Grand Prix was removed from the calendar after the country invaded Ukraine, there’s a chance the presenters will use this as a plot point.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
