The Grand Tour Season 2: What Do We Know So Far?

As we start to edge closer to the beginning of the next series of The Grand Tour, we’re starting to receive more hints at what we’ll be seeing when Clarkson, Hammond and May make it back onto our screens. As everything’s beginning to get a little hazy, we’re going to clear the air for you and summarise all that we know.

Locations

We know from the trio’s social media accounts that they have already started filming for season 2, and they’ve given us several hints at where they’ll be visiting.

Jeremy mentioned in a DriveTribe live stream that they will be visiting Africa at the end of February. This is of course where Hammond had his motorcycle accident where he fell off, hit his head and lost consciousness in the middle of a road. He stated on social media:

“I can confirm that yes, I fell off a. bike, many times, in fact and yes, I banged my head and everything else. But life goes on,”

More can be read about that here. Whether the accident will be shown during season 2 is unknown, but who wants to see poor Hammond injure himself anyway?

In the same live stream, Jeremy also told the camera how they will be visiting Georgia, the country, and France, after the trio joked about never pitching their tent in France after Jeremy and Richard lost their driving licenses there during the Top Gear episode ‘The Perfect Road Trip’.

Colorado has also been confirmed, where they were staying at the Gateway Canyons Resort. Judging by Jeremy’s Instagram, this stay included a Jaguar XJ6 driving down a runway on Easter Sunday. More can be read about that here.

Apart from this not much else is known about where they will be found pitching their tent. However, last year The Grand Tour offered local fans the opportunity to watch the live recording and tickets were given to the winners of an online lottery draw. This gave away the locations for season 1, which I’m sure will be repeated for season 2 closer to the time.

Conversation Street will return… Probably

In the very first episode of The Grand Tour, Clarkson joked that they had recorded enough intros to last them through the next three years. Whether this will definitely continue we’re not sure. But why wouldn’t it?

How many episodes?

Amazon agreed to a contract of 36 episodes across three years. With the first season taking 12 (the last two couting as one join episode), surely we’re going to see another 12 episodes for season 2 – probably with the last two episodes joining to make one, similarly to season 1. That means we would be left with an even 12 for season 3. Wouldn’t that make sense?

When?

Clarkson let out in the DriveTribe live stream that, “it will go out this year at the same time the last one went out… whenever that was.” So as season 1 was released November 18th, let’s expect a similar release date later this year for season 2.

Not a lot else is known about the next season of The Grand Tour, but if you think we’ve left anything out then please let us know in the comments! Are you looking forward to season 2? We certainly are. But until then, join us in the nostalgia of the theme song…

Alex Harrington

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
