The Grand Tour’s Abbie Eaton Pays Her Respect To Sabine Schmitz Who Passed Away After Battle With Cancer

Sabine Schmitz and Abbie Eaton are very similar from a fan’s point of view. They’re both talented female racing drivers, they’ve both featured next to Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, and they both have complete respect from within the industry.

Sadly, as I’m sure you’ve heard by now, Sabine Schmitz passed away after a long battle with cancer only days ago. Abbie Eaton, who is readying to compete in British Endurance Racing behind the wheel of a Praga, has recently paid her respects to the ‘Queen of the Nurburgring’ on Twitter.

“Awful news,” she writes. “Keep it lit up there

Sabine’s passing comes less than a week after the motoring world Murray Walker, legendary motorsports commentator, passed away at the age of 97. These two blows to the motoring community have been hard and deep, and we’re going to greatly miss these two brilliant, sparkling people.

Abbie currently co-presents the Carfection show, Track Mode, where she alongside Jorge Calado drive the most iconic tracks in the world while giving us how-tos, facts, and tips, on how to make the most of them behind the wheel.

Unfortunately, we don’t believe Abbie will be returning to The Grand Tour, but we’d love to see her back.
