When Richard Hammond Showed Everyone How to be a Dad

In 2007, Richard Hammond was in his Porsche 911 Carrera and was caught up in traffic that was caused by floods. Hammond made the decision to put on his running gear and rain jacket to run the 16 miles back home to make his daughter’s fourth birthday.

This is after his 12-hour trip home and it being 3am in the morning, so you know that being home for his family was of the utmost importance.

“There was no way I was going to miss it – I’m away from home enough as it is,” he said.

“Luckily I had my running gear and a waterproof jacket with me in the car, so I decided to run the rest of the way. It was pitch black but I just put my iPod on and went.”

Hammond ended up getting home by 5:30am to spend the day with his wife Mindy and daughters, Willow and Izzy.

“I had a hot shower and a bacon buttie and not long after that Willow got up and we had a lovely time for her birthday.”

Considering Hammond was involved in a major crash in the previous September, you can see that his priorities are right in order.

Well done, Hamster.

His relationship with his daughters is obviously strong, as you can see from the video below where he and his daughters review the new Ford Raptor, and his wife Mindy makes the perfect family for keeping the Hamster under control.
