Chris Harris Discusses The BMW M8 Competition In Top Gear – Behind The Scenes
The BMW M8 Competition was released and, let’s face it, we weren’t blown away. Yes, it’s the most powerful M car yet with 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft, and it’s perfectly fast with a 0-60mph time of 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 189mph. But unfortunately, it just didn’t do it for us.
Its styling isn’t dramatic enough, with some sections of the design just not working at all, and, hey, why do we need another M car anyway? The thing is, the original M8 looked blisteringly cool, this one doesn’t quite do it for us. And at a price that competes with supercars, it needed to be more.
Top Gear’s Chris Harris talks about the car that was recently featured on the last episode of this series of Top Gear. He is also torn.
He wonders why you’d buy the M8 over any other M car that works on the same structure. Buy an M5 and enjoy both the similar performance and the extra space.
Towards the end of the video, Chris is asked about his favourite M car from the last ten years. He answers very quickly. “1M at the moment. My 1M has done 60,000 miles. I love it.”
