Top Gear Can’t Get 2017 Right With New Calendar
Listen, we all make mistakes, right? I’m not writing this to point and laugh at Top Gear; I know s**t happens. As much as TG was cringey to watch with Chris Evans yelling at us through the TV, I truthfully want to see it succeed, especially with this new hosting lineup that I have high hopes for. But sometimes a mistake is so blatantly obvious that it can’t go unnoticed, especially coming from one of the foremost automotive publications in the world (no pun intended).
Feast your eyes on Exhibit A, an image found on Imgur a few days ago. It’s a seemingly innocent shot of the 2017 Top Gear calendar featuring the month of July and a Ferrari 488 GTB Spider. But wait! Is that a 488 GTB Spider?

Zoiks.
Unless the 488 GTB Spider suddenly underwent a radical design change to make it look like a Ferrari F12, that there is the wrong car. To be fair though, it CAN be somewhat easy to mix cars up, especially if you’re in a hurry. If you squint really hard and have a few drinks beforehand, a 488 looks just like a 458, and a F12 looks kind of like a 599.
I mean hell, using that logic, a Lamborghini Huracan looks just like a Gallardo, and a Camry looks like a Corolla. It happens, and honestly, it was probably some poor intern that made the error.
In all seriousness though, I would LOVE a calendar where all the months feature the wrong cars. Wouldn’t that be a hoot? January 2017 could be the Pagani Huayra, but feature the image of a Nissan Leaf instead. I’m chuckling just thinking about it.
I’m surprised the license plate didn’t help the editor notice the mistake, as well.
