Chevrolet Corvette Driver Charged For Reckless Driving After Hitting 161MPH In A 70

We’ve recently heard a rumour that Chevrolet is going to be producing both a sedan and an SUV under the Corvette sub-brand, and obviously this had Corvette drivers running to the hills. Well, one’s just been caught speeding, doing almost 100mph over the speed limit.

July 31st saw Trooper Shawn Slaney patrolling the I-93 with his radar gun armed and ready. This was when a Chevrolet Corvette flew past him in a blur of bright orange at 161mph in a 70. Of course, there was no way Slaney could catch up to it by the time it had gone past, so he put out a BOLO notice so other officers would be on the lookout around the local area.

Following this, reports of more speeding cars started being called in, and eventually, the orange Corvette was spotted, this time at 130mph. Getting stuck in traffic on Exit 31, the police were able to pull the driver over where he was then detained.

Behind the wheel sat 30-year-old Alejandro Zapata-Rebello, who was later charged with two counts of reckless driving and one charge of disobeying an officer. He was then charged separately for yet another charge of reckless driving, with him expected to show up in court September 22, 2022. There’s no way he’ll be getting away from that one.
