Ferrari Has Confirmed Its First All-Electric Supercar Will Come In 2025

We’ve only just got our heads around the fact that Ferrari has released a hybrid in the form of the SF90 Stradale. But now Ferrari has confirmed that it’s working on an all-electric supercar for the first time in history as the automaker’s chairman and interim CEO John Elkann reveals in the recent annual shareholder’s meeting. Launch is expected to come during 2025.

“You can be sure this will be everything you dream the engineers and designers at Maranello can imagine for such a landmark in our history,” said Elkann according to Ferrari. No other details were revealed, although, with Ferrari’s history of pushing away the idea of an EV, I expect big things from this.

The late Sergio Marchionne, former CEO of the marque, once described an all-electric Ferrari as an “almost obscene concept” five years ago. But in 2018, they admitted that eventually, Ferrari would have to give in. Former CEO Louis Camilleri then later said in 2019 that we wouldn’t see a Ferrari EV until 2025. Now, this is to come to fruition.

This, obviously, has been forced by governments who are planning an all-electric future and the eventual banning of combustion-engined cars. If, or rather, when this happens, Ferrari will need to be ready with a collection of high-performance EVs. But until then, we’ll look forward to the Ferrari Purosangue SUV that’s looking to be released in 2022.
