Forza Horizon 5: Gameplay Footage Shows Off Incredible Introduction To Game

Playground Games has released gameplay footage of Forza Horizon 5 confirming not only just how crazy this game is going to be, but also the cover cars of this series of open-world games.

It begins with the new Ford Bronco Badlands being dropped from the back of a cargo plane by parachute before it hits the ground at La Gran Caldera Volcano. This is the same volcano that could feature in the battle-royale-style Eliminator game mode.

To the right, there’s burning lava as steam and smoke erupt into the air, but in stark contrast, the SUV is weaving through roads covered in snow. Heading downhill, the terrain changes to sand and dust with the car eventually jumping into a Baja race.

Next up is the mid-engined C8 Corvette as it strikes the ground running as cars buzz around it. Eventually, it hits a dust storm which we’ll find occurring naturally during Free Roam and a scripted part of some races as can be seen by this gameplay.

Now, heading off into yet another landscape, we’re at the wheel of a Porsche 911 “Desert Flyer” which is perfectly suited to the jungle scenery it’s careering through. There’s a gorgeous waterfall in the background before the German sports car flies through a flamboyance of flamingos (that is actually what it’s called – promise) which take flight around the car.

Finally, we get to see the star of the show, the Mercedes-AMG Project One. It’s joined by a number of other hypercars including the Koenigsegg Jesko, a Ford GT, and a McLaren Speedtail as they all race to the centre of the Horizon Festival that this time, is set in Mexico.

There are plenty of cars coming to the game, but we’re yet to see a full car list, although creative director Mike Brown has revealed that there will be “hundreds” of cars when the game launches. “More than we’ve had at launch in any previous game”.

On top of this, thanks to its three years of development, they’ve played with the driving physics making two substantial changes: “We’ve completely rebuilt the way suspension works – you might think that might make it more challenging, but the realism improves the accessibility,” Brown said. “Braking is another area where we’ve been able to improve the physical simulation – the pads will grab the breaks in a more gradual way rather than locking up, and again this is more accessible.”

We are very excited, so make sure you grab a copy when Forza Horizon 5 is released on 9th November for Xbox One, the Xbox Series consoles and PC. It will debut on Game Pass.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
