1967 Ford Mustang GT500 ‘Eleanor’ From Gone In 60 Seconds Is Going To Auction
The Eleanor Mustang became a legend after it was driven by Nicolas Cage’s expert car thief in the iconic remake of Gone in 60 Seconds. The 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 became a poster car of the ages, but now you have the chance to take it from the poster and put it in your garage. You guessed it, it’s for sale.
One of only eleven Chip Foose-designed Shelby Mustangs is going up for auction at Mecum’s Kissimmee in January next year, with each of these eleven cars specifically built for the film. This specific model was named ‘The Dream Car’ by the production team and was used for the high speed chases though Los Angeles. Yep, this was the car that threw itself down the LA river. Before you wonder, yes, it has the ‘Go Baby Go’ button mounted onto the Hurst shifter, which will unleash 125hp worth of nitrous into the 5.8-litre V8 producing a total of 425bhp. This power is sent through a five-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. You can watch the car accelerate through its RPM via a column-mounted tachometer, and other modifications include racing-style lap belts, a fuel cell in the boot, and Halibrand-style wheels which pop against the pepper grey metallic paint.
With less than 100 miles on the clock, this could be the perfect car to fulfil your need to be part of the film. We wouldn’t be surprised if this reaches a 6-figure sale next year.
