2021 Porsche 911 Targa To Be Unveiled On Monday 18th May

It’s the moment all Porsche fans have been waiting for.. its nearly the time that the 911 family is about to welcome it’s brand new family member… the 911 Targa.

The premier is currently slated for Monday 18th May and will be revealed on Porsche’s 9:11 Magazine online TV channel. Obviously this wasn’t Porsche’s first option of how to unveil the new Targa but with the current COVID-19 pandemic – its probably a good thing.

Like most unveilings of new vehicles, Porsche were going to wait for a motor show – specially the 2020 Beijing Auto Show. The show, set to take place between April 21-30 was sadly and not surprisingly pushed back.

But that isn’t where the teething problems ended as Porsche then planned to show us the 911 Targa at the Porsche Museum but, again unsurprisingly, the museum was temporarily closed until recently. So, third time lucky and Porsche have decided to do this digitally – much like Lamborghini with their recent unveiling of the Huracan EVO RWD Spyder.

You can see the teaser trailer for the new Porsche 911 Targa below:

The 2021 Targa is expected to launch with rear and all-wheel drive as well a twin turbocharged 3.0 litre flat six engine which is going to be mounted to the rear axle. The base models engine is expected to pump out 380 horsepower, while the more powerful model is expected to produce 444 horsepower – giving the Targa a 0-62mph time of less than 4 seconds.

The GTS moniker will of course be back for the new generation, bringing us a sportier appearance and the same 3.0 litre engine under the bonnet. While it is not yet known how much power this thing will have, but word on the street is it’ll be somewhere in the region of 480 horsepower.

See you on Monday 18th May for the all important announcement!
