2021 Toyota Mirai Gets A Bodykit Before Sales Even Begin

The new 2021 Toyota Mirai has only been revealed to the world for a couple of weeks, yet Modellista, a design company, has taken it upon themselves to add something extra to the already great looking hydrogen-powered car.

The original Mirai was a car that had to make a point, and because of that, had rather questionable aesthetics. It wasn’t an ugly car, but it wasn’t traditionally good looking, sporting curves and lines that didn’t quite add up, and a gopping front bumper that… okay, that bit was ugly. But it was a car of the future, and it certainly made a statement.

this new model is far more ‘normal’, featuring styling of what you’d expect from a premium saloon. Add on the Modellisat touches, and we’re looking at a slightly more aggressive, but still rather understated car, much like that of the Kia Stinger.

The front of the car now has an additional chin spoiler, and this lower bumper is matched by a pair of new sideskirts that add some angle to its side design. These angles feed into the rear bumper, with the creases that lead to the rear lights now being more defined.

Much of the new Mirai is still under speculation, but it’s rumoured to have three hydrogen fuel tanks allowing for a range of 528 miles. A single electric motor sees the saloon reach 180 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, and top speed will reportedly reach 109mph. And while pricing isn’t announced, there will be two options to choose from: an XLE base model, and a Limited model that sits above the former. US sales are expected to start in December.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
