2022 Ford Mustang Models Will Lose Power For A Very Annoying Reason

Some of the anticipated changes for the 2022 Ford Mustang have already been implemented, including a new Stealth Edition and an optional GT Performance Package for the California Special. It appears that there is more news on the way, and it isn’t good. According to a report published by Ford Authority, which cited “sources familiar with the muscle car’s launch,” the new Mustang will have less power than before, with its total output falling by ten whole horses.

The naturally aspirated 5.0L Ti-VCT is going to lose 10 pound-feet (14 Newton-meters) of torque, too, making it even worse than we initially thought. Regardless of gearbox or body style, the loss in power will have an effect on both the GT and Mach 1 versions of the Mustang. The reason for the eight-cylinder engine’s reduced power has yet to be determined, but according to Ford Authority, it will be modified in order to meet more stringent emissions standards… they take away all of the fun.

After accounting for the anticipated power loss, it implies the Mustang GT will have 450 horsepower and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm) of torque from now on, whereas the Mach 1 will have to make do with only 470 hp and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm). Europeans will be sad to learn that the GT is rated at 453 hp (338 kW) on the Old Continent, while the Mach 1 has a rating of 453 hp and 390 lb-ft (529 Nm).

Despite the fact that Ford’s website still features a 2021 Mustang, according to rumors, Ford has already started accepting orders for the 2022 model year and will begin delivering cars in the first quarter. It’s conceivable that the S550-generation vehicle is nearing its end, with a seventh-generation sports car replacing it for the 2023 model year.

Finally, Autoline Daily claimed at the start of the year that Ford has already started production of an electric, actually-a-sports-car Mustang in December 2028.
