The third-generation Lexus LX has been discontinued after fourteen years on the market, and it’s time we bid it a fond farewell. It was well worth the wait, as the all-new fourth-gen LX SUV features upgrades on all fronts, including a revised platform that has shed more than 441 pounds (200 kgs) compared to its predecessor. Looking closer, that’s because Toyota’s new Land Cruiser, which won’t be sold in the United States, has lost the same amount of fat as a result of using TNGA-F architecture.
The styling is as striking as we expected it to be with the rise of large front grilles, and its side profile that reveals the LX is strongly influenced by its larger Toyota cousin. It’s worth noting that the Lexus has a slightly different quarter glass and rear pillar, but the overall form is largely identical. The main differences compared to the LC include a bigger spindle grille at the front and expanded use of chrome on the outside.
The redesigned Lexus, which gets its first dual touchscreen setup in the cabin, has some significant distinctions from the previous model. The upper screen of the 12.3-inch unit displays navigation and audio controls, as well as information about the Off-Road Monitor system when you’re off-road. The lower seven-inch screen offers fast access to the climate settings and may be used as a backup display for the Multi-Terrain Select by displaying camera feed on the upper screen and off-road data on the smaller display.

The LX’s body-on-frame SUV gets an Ultra Luxury grade for the first time since its inception in 1995, with a four-seat configuration that allows independent rear seats that may recline at up to 48 degrees for added comfort. The LX Ultra Luxury adds further features, including overhead ceiling vents, reading lights, and a rear-seat entertainment system with dual screens as standard equipment.
