2023 Mazda CX-60 Teased To Be A 300HP Hybrid SUV Will Debut Early March

The success of the SUV isn’t going anywhere, so it’s no surprise that Mazda is doing its best to slot into the niche wherever it can. But the Japanese marque isn’t playing around. The brand has released teasers the CX-60, its first car from its Large Product Group that it announced late last year, and while it’s not coming to the United States, it will be coming to Japan and Europe. The US will however be getting the CX-70, which will be larger.

We’ve already seen a few shots of this car doing the rounds last year, but now we have official information on the stats of the car, as well as that all-important engine note. So, on that note, let’s begin with the engine specs. The 2023 CX-60 will be powered by a hybrid powertrain consisting of a four-cylinder 2.5-litre engine and a single electric motor. These combined will produce 300 horsepower while also adhering to the emissions regulations of Europe.

With this setup, it will be Mazda’s first-ever hybrid model and will be followed by the CX-80, a much larger SUV with three rows of seats.

Both the CX-60 and CX-80 will be looking to enter the market within the next couple of years, paralleled by the CX-70 and CX-90 that will be positioned in the US. But these will also be coming with a straight-6 petrol engine as well as diesel options, again with a hybrid setup.

There’s been no evidence of larger engines coming to Europe, but all of these models are expected to be rear-wheel drive thanks to an all-new platform. We’re very excited to hopefully get a go in one.
