300+MPH Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Is In Production And Will Be Sold For £4.2 Million
Once again I’m here telling you that Bugatti has broken the speed record with their 304.77mph run in a slightly altered Chiron. Yep, I know, you’ve heard it all before and it’s now old news. But the fact that this car is now going into production, well, that’s very exciting.
Under the name of Super Sport 300+, this Chiron is more than capable of its three tonne top speed, and despite a few slight changes, it’s not so different to the Chiron you saw break the record.
Its 8.0-litre, quad-turbo W16 named Thor remains unchanged producing 1,578bhp, and its long ratio gearbox is still present to accommodate that blisteringly fast top speed. Look to your left from the driver’s seat though, and you won’t see piles of GPS and performance monitoring computers, you’ll see a comfortable passenger seat covered in luxuriously soft leather. The driver’s seat is the same, and not a hard, fit for racing bucket seat.
There’s no roll cage, but if you’re wondering if that’s a bad idea, we need to give you some bad news. With the ride-height back up to somewhere near road-going, it’s not as aerodynamic as the test version. And, unfortunately, a speed limiter will be added. You can thank the insurance companies for that one. I don’t think it’s in their best interests for you to be travelling at 300mph down the Autobahn.
But there is hope. Bugatti is teasing the possibility of owners to be able to spec a roll cage and the removal of this limiter, but I would think this would be under GPS control, as the French marque will also give you access to their Ehra-Lessien test track. This is entirely dependent on the size of your gonads.
The Super Sport will come with its extended hips and black with orange stripes paintwork, but of course plenty of money will get you just about anything these days, so don’t be surprised if you see other colour combinations crop up. Oh, and I mean plenty of money, because prices start from £4.2 million.
