Aston Martin Teases Limited-Run V12 Speedster

With windscreen-less Speedsters becoming all the range for the very few rich people who can afford them, cars like the McLaren Elva and Ferrari Monza SP2 are slowly filling our email inboxes. Today, Aston Martin has sent out details about their new speedster, which they’ve originally named the V12 Speedster.

It’s a very limited edition model with only 88 units planned for worldwide sales, and plans on bringing back the open-cockpit style of the 1959 Aston Martin DBR1 while mixing it with the looks of the 2013 CC100 Speedster Concept. All we’ve been given officially is the teaser image above.

“The 88 enthusiast drivers and collectors who secure the keys to these cars can be confident that in doing so, they are also securing an iconic new piece of Aston Martin history,” Aston Martin Lagonda President and Group CEO Dr. Andy Palmer says.

As you may have guessed, a V12 engine sits upfront with 5.2-litres of capacity and an output of 690bhp and 516lb-ft of torque. This power is sent through an 8-speed gearbox, and Aston Martin is keen to add that they are giving special attention to how the engine sounds when sat in the roofless cabin. Excitement is at the core of this design, obviously.

Alongside this, the British marque promise “cutting-edge motorsport and aviation technology” from the V12 Speedster, but they’re being tight lipped about what this means exactly, but we expect it has something to do with Aston Martin’s partnership with Airbus, after they released the ACH130 helicopter only days ago.

Each car is built by hand within Aston’s Q branch with deliveries beginning during the first quarter of 2021.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: alex@grandtournation.com
