Check Out Mansory’s $4 Million Bugatti Chiron – ‘Centuria’

Mansory is no stranger to, let’s say, over-styling. One look at last year’s Mansory Phantom and you can see that their aim is to put as many inlets and blades on a car as they can fit. Of course, these aren’t aerodynamically proficient or performance enriching, but some people like it. Others, like myself, think it’s quite tasteless and I’d much rather them leave the smooth bodywork of cars alone.

On the other end of the scale, I’ve always gelled with Bugatti’s design language. It’s always been sophisticated and curvaceous. Wings, blades and curves are purposefully implemented to perform a function, whether it be to keep the car on the ground, keep it running in a straight line, or to make it as slippery as possible.

Put the two companies together and I’ve got quite the dilemma. could Mansory bring the excitement to Bugatti that a lot of you have been asking for? Well, no. Not really.

This monstrosity retails for $3.7million (a lot more than the original Chiron), but for that money, Mansory promises that they’ve improved upon the work that the Molsheim experts had done. They’ve also given it a fruity name, the ‘Centuria’.

Anyway, the Chiron has been covered in carbon-fibre bits and pieces like fancy sideskirts which links the front and rear axles aerodynamically (whatever that means), and extra holes to improve cooling. A new diffusor sits at the rear and, just incase you hadn’t noticed it, the rear wing has been redesigned and improved. This all seems a bit fishy to me. Are they really telling us that they can improve on Bugatti’s design? I doubt it.

New fully-forged turbine wheels sit at each corner, and they’ve dropper a couple of cans of blue leather dye in the cockpit. Oh, and they’ve added an extra-loud exhaust because apparently, unlike the aerodynamics (which aren’t overly measurable to most people), they couldn’t improve the engine performance bar a bit of extra volume.

So, if you live in London, currently have a lot of money and enjoy sitting in traffic revving the engines of very expensive cars and tasteless cars, this is for you. If not, then you have taste and my respect.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
