Diesel Brothers Fined $840,000 Over Illegal Truck Modifications And Sales

2016 saw a group of doctors from Utah sue the tuning company, Diesel Brothers, for producing and selling vehicles with “illegal modifications”. Now, Now, almost four years down the line, U.S. District Judge Robert Shelby has ruled that the tuning company should pay a fine of $848,000 for modifying and selling diesel trucks without emission control system, and therefore violating emissions standards.

The Diesel Brothers, who also feature on the Discovery Channel by the same name, have been modifying these diesel trucks to produce more power.

“Illegally stripped down and modified diesel trucks have no place on our roadways,” Dr. Brian Moench, president of the doctors’ group that brought the charge into court, commented after the ruling according to Standard.net. “Any business that not only profits from doing that, but glorifies the plumes of pollution that their handiwork produces, should be held accountable, and that’s what this ruling does.”

On top of this steep fine, Shelby has also banned the Brothers from any further violation, meaning that they won’t be able to continue modifying and creating trucks of this nature. While there’s been little word of this from their social accounts, they let Fox News record their reaction.

Of the fine, $90,000 will be paid to the Davis County Tampered Diesel Truck Restoration Program, with the rest going to the US Treasury.

This order only has approximately 10% of the money staying in Utah,” Cole Cannon, the Diesel Brothers’ attorney noted. “The other gets sent to Washington, D.C., and we all know how useful that’s going to be.”
