First Look At Gordon Murray’s New Sports Car

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Gordon Murray, the designer of the iconic McLaren F1, was set to start his own automotive company called Gordon Murray Automotive. Today we bring you a look at the first car designed by the new company.

Details are scarce, but it appears that Murray will not be following the footsteps of other automakers in designing something with a billion HP. Murray stated that this new car will be meant for “real-world conditions,” and confirmed that it won’t be packed to the brim with power and it will not utilize a hybrid powertrain.

“We have a powertrain department here and we are working on a couple of very exciting options. They buck the current trends.”

Murray also mentioned that he hopes it won’t need to use a turbocharger, and he hopes to keep the weight under 1,000 kg. He also said that the sketch above would be a realistic representation of the car “in proportions.”

As far as when we’ll know more specific details, we don’t yet know. Murray doesn’t seem to be in any rush, stating “I’m relaxed on timing.” Development starts this spring.
