Get your V10 Fix With This Lexus LFA Acceleration Video
Maybe a week ago, we listed the only three V10 engines still in production. It’s so sad that one of the best sounding engines is now so scarce on our roads. But manufacturers can’t take away the used market, and the sounds that have thankfully been locked away safely on YouTube. It’s not perfect, but it’s all we’ve got and we’re not letting it go, God dammit!
So, as we’re a bad depressed over the cold facts that the V10 isn’t likely to return, I give you this: a video of not only the best sounding V10, but the best sounding car in the world, the Lexus LFA.
The LFA may be one of the largest sacrifices Lexus ever built. Due to its carbon fibre makeup and the production process this entailed, the company made a loss on each and every LFA they ever built. 500 examples were made between 2010 and 2012, and its heavenly V10 revved to a hardcore 9,000rpm producing 553hp.
In fact, it revved so quickly, they had to build a digital tach which could keep up with the car’s devastating performance. It sounded so good thanks to help by Toyota’s F1 team and Yamaha, Tanahashi Haruhiko, the LFA’s chief engineer, dubbed its sound the ‘angel roar’.
The car’s production was insane, it made no sense, but yet Lexus wanted to show the world what it could do. And boy oh boy, Lexus wasn’t holding back.
