Jeep’s V8 Hemi Wrangler Pops Ford’s Bronco Bubble

It’s not necessary to divide the off-road 4×4 community between the Jeep Wrangler and the Ford Bronco, but in anticipation of their adversary’s revival, that’s just what Jeep aims to do.

This week, FCA had some of their design team whip up a quick teaser image. It wasn’t just some blacked-out view of only headlights either. In fact, it was a Jeep Wrangler that had “392” on its hood.

In cubic meters, that’s code for 6.2L V8 Hemi.

The 475 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque brought to a Jeep via this engine, would put it up there in power with SRT’s newly unveiled Durango Hellcat. In that setup, the Hemi is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which would make a suitable Jeep amendment.

Some may see this as a little unnecessary, since the Bronco hasn’t even been fully unveiled yet.

Honestly, it’s questionable whether on not anyone who is in the market for a 4×4 will see the Hemi as a swaying factor. I’d imagine the style of the body and the little easter eggs are now the top selling points for Jeep.

Nobody really wants to go fast or pull too much weight in a Wrangler… well, except for people who buy the Hennessy Gladiator Maximus 1000. Okay, nevermind, there seems to be a market for this.
