Listen To A BMW With The A Skyline GT-R Engine Swap

The E30 BMW M3 is widely revered by BMW enthusiasts and car people in general alike. It embodies everything that most enthusiasts want in a sports car: it’s small, light, communicative, and had just enough power to hustle through corners without killing you. It’s also one of those cars which has become ripe for mods over time, and in an effort to make his E30 a little more exciting, this owner dropped in an RB26DETT engine right out of an R34 Skyline GT-R.

YouTube user statesidesupercars spotted the RB-swapped E30 frolicking around the Nurburgring, now making 408bhp and 386 lb-ft of torque and a noise that could topple houses. Surprisingly, the RB26 now has neither of its original turbochargers, replaced by a single, larger Borg-Warner twin-scroll unit.

E30s are enjoying something of a price bubble at the moment, skyrocketing in value from standard old-car prices in the low-$10,000 up to $45,000 and up; while this particular M3 probably won’t command the same kind of price as a bone-stock unicorn example, its combination of one of the best sports cars ever with one of the most famous engines will undoubtedly make it a favorite to the right person. Doesn’t look like this guy’ll be selling anytime soon, though. I know I wouldn’t.
