McLaren 765LT Released With More Power, Downforce And Carbon Fibre

The McLaren 765LT is the latest longtail model, and being based on the 720S – the supercar many have described as the being best in the world right now – it’s already standing in a strong position. As I’m sure you know, the longtails are track-orientated variants with lower weight, longer tails, and even more sporty bits.

The sporty bits on this new car includes a very spikey twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 that produces 755bhp and 590lb-ft of torque. Being pushed through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox with shifts 15% faster than the 720S, it slams power to the rear wheels resulting in a 0-62mph time of 2.8 seconds, and to hit 124mph, it only takes 7.2 seconds.

It weighs just 1,229 kilograms, 80kg less than the 720, thanks to a host of carbon fibre parts, a titanium exhaust system that exits out the rear, and thinner glass. 10-spoke wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres. To increase grip further, all the aerodynamic pieces have been overhauled to produce 25% more downforce than the previous car. The track is also 0.24 inches wider at the front, and the whole car is hunkered 5mm lower to the floor. Updated springs and changes to the Proactive Chassis Control II suspension control system sees the car even more agile than the 720, too, only emphasised by a faster steering ratio.

To stop, the 765LT has carbon-ceramic rotors with callipers accompanying them from the Senna. If you have some spare change, you can also spec it with Senna discs and a very special set of brake pads.

Inside you’ll be surrounded by carbon fibre that makes up the seats, some of the floor, and centre tunnel. There’s a bit of Alcantara, too, but that’s all you get. Air-conditioning and a radio can be specced for an extra cost, as can the seats from the Senna.

Fancy it?

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
