The New Ferrari Portofino Absolutely Stunning

Once upon a time prior to having kids, my wife and I took a vacation to Italy. We stayed in the seaside town of Santa Margherita, and one rainy afternoon, we decided to walk along the coast. 6-7 miles later, we rounded the cliffside and were greeted by the absolutely stunning town of Portofino. It was hands down one of the most beautiful places in the world that my eyes had ever seen.

The new Ferrari Portofino evokes the same type of feeling when I see it. It’s not “the most” beautiful car I have ever seen; in fact, I wouldn’t even say it’s the most beautiful Ferrari I have ever seen (I’m partial to the 458 Italia). But there’s just something quiet and elegant about this car that’s not as showy as other Ferraris.

The Portofino packs a 3.9L twin turbo V8 under the hood, capable of 590 BHP and 560 ft/lb of torque (a 40 HP improvement over the California T), and includes a bit of weight reduction in the form of an all new chassis.

The Portofino also includes Ferrari’s E-Diff3 (3rd gen electronic rear diff). It is the first time the E-Diff3 will be available on an entry model. The Portofino is also the first GT in the range to include Electric Power Steering, which, when paired with E-Diff3, allowed the engineers to reduce the steering ratio by 7%.

Look for Ferrari to announce the Portofino at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month!
