Tesla Sentry Mode Catches Vandals Attacking Model 3 Charger

A Tesla Model 3 that was sat charging in a car park in Las Vegas has caught two young vandals attacking and trying to damage the charging cable of the car. The footage that was picked up by its Sentry Mode was later shared online by the owner, and was also sent to the carpark security.

The video shows one of the men to attempt to open the car before going back to his own car. His friend comes into shot and then attempts to remove the charging cable by pulling on it before realising that it is locked into place. After closer inspection, he decides to try kicking it to try and dislodge it and remove it.

Before long, this sets off the alarm on the car and just as a girl comes into view, too, all three, along with an additional fourth and fifth who enter the scene after the alarm had sounded, get into their own car and flee the scene. They reverse the car, and as far as we can see, its numberplate isn’t visible to the camera.

The owner of the vehicle sent the footage to the security team at the garage, but there has been no results as far as we know. If the owner, or someone involved has any knowledge of what happened afterwards, please get in touch!

This is yet another example of abuse that Tesla vehicles receive on a daily basis. because the car is an EV – and a well known EV at that – they have been targeted by those against the all-electric movement, or even those who maybe don’t share the same views or are just jealous. After all, they can be expensive cars.

If you have a story of your Tesla getting damaged while left unattended and parked, please get in contact with us and share your story.

  1. I’m not a big fan of EVs, but all I do is not buy one.
Why do these people feel the need to step on other people just because of their choice in cars? This goes both ways for people who block gas stations or charging stations.
