The Hoonitruck – Ken Block’s New 900HP Whip

Ken Block is no stranger to a very fast, raucous motor vehicle. But this is him once again pushing the boat out.

This is the 900hp Hoonitruck, his weapon of choice for the soon to be released Gymkhana 10. That’s right, he’s shaken his head at the 1,400hp Hoonicorn and his, what seems to be an endless collection of Rallycross cars, and instead chosen a Ford truck to do his bidding.

The truck in question is a 1977 Ford F-150, chosen as a tribute to Block’s father who owned the same model when the Hoonigan owner was growing up. In fact, he learnt how to drive in his father’s truck, and I’m sure probably learnt a few sideways manoeuvres, unknown to his father. But of course that truck was more or less stock. The one we’re showing you today, very obviously isn’t.

A custom-tuned Ford Performance V6 EcoBoost engine has been lifted straight from a Ford GT Le Mans car and placed under the bonnet. It creates 914 horses from its 6 cylinders and 702 ft lb of torque at 6,450rpm.

the power produced goes to all four wheels via a Sadev 6-speed ‘box just like the Hoonicorn. But unlike the Hoonicorn, according to Ken, it sounds like nothing we’ve ever heard before in a Gymkhana video, so we are of course keeping our ears pinned back. Detroit Speed shop based out of Mooresville, NC were trusted with the project, while Ken and his lunatic team at Hoonigan HQ dictated the styling of the project. Oh, and as you can see, the body and chassis has had quite a going over with custom fabrication being done by the boys at Detroit Speed shop, too.

“This project has been in the works for about 2 years,” said Block. “I’m beyond pleased with how it turned out, it’s simply one of the most badass and unique vehicles I’ve seen in a long time and I think it compliments my Hoonicorn perfectly. It’s also crazy to be throwing something around that’s this size when doing Gymkhana-style driving. But, it looks absolutely wild on camera, and that was our goal from the start. I can’t wait for the fans to be able to see it in action, I think they’re gonna love it!”

Gymkhana 10 will first be revealed on Amazon Prime on Dec 7th, but if you don’t have a subscription not to worry! It will be released on the Hoonigan YouTube channel ten days after its Amazon date.

We can’t wait to see it in action, and we’re sure you can’t either. Let us know what you think of this out of the box build!

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
