The Italdesign GT-R50 Concept Is Production Ready And Deliveries Start In 2020
The Nissan GT-R came to the market 12 years ago, can you believe it’s been that long? Despite its many facelifts from the Japanese company, it’s no secret that we’re all yearning for the next generation. While Nissan is keeping that close to its chest, Italdesign has been working on something very special.
We wrote about this car over a year ago now, but this GT-R50 is now production ready “a significant number of deposits” already being taken for the limited-production car. Customers are currently choosing their personal specifications for their new cars, with the first production cars being revealed properly at the Geneva Motor Show in March and deliveries starting late 2020 subject to certification and homologation.
As you can see from the images released by Nissan, the concept car has been slightly altered to align with road rules. For example, the camera on the side have been replaced with traditional wing mirrors. However, it still retains the majesty of the original concept car, unlike most. See the original concept idea below.
Each Italdesign GT-R50 will be tuned by Nismo, with the hand-built 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 from the original GT-R. It will produce a healthy 710bhp and 575 lb-ft.
“Our customers have relished the personalized experience provided by Italdesign, who have a long tradition in the exclusive field of ultra-rare, bespoke high-performance vehicles,” Bob Laishley, global sports car program director at Nissan, tells CarScoops. “Their experience with the GT-R50 has been incredible and I can say first-hand that each car will certainly be a standalone masterpiece,” he adds.
The pricing of the GT-R50 comes in at $1.12 million, making it five times more expensive than the Nissan GT-R Nismo. While it won’t be five times the car, its exclusivity and gorgeous looks will make it a favourite for those who are fans of the GT-R and other JDM icons.
