This 2JZ Swapped Corvette Produces A Monstrous 1200hp
Some say sacrilege, some say interesting. What I say? Well.. If it’s fast, it’s fast. Who am I to complain?
The 2JZ is possibly the most well known JDM engine of all time. Coming from the Supra and a few Lexus models, it’s proven to be a formidable weapon for a drag car to wield, possible of reaching thousands of horsepower and producing a sound that was spawned from the heavens! How can you say no to that?
The Corvette on the other hand came from the factory with a Chevy V8, this one in particular a 572 cubic-inch big block, but back then large engines from America weren’t known for producing large amounts of power so these days are usually swapped out with a more up to date LS1 or LS3 unit.
This Corvette however, marries JDM propulsion with a USDM chassis. And good Lord does it move. The 2JZ nestled in the engine bay, along with a single turbocharger, produces a massive 1200hp. I know this may put some noses out of joint, but you can’t argue with the performance figures.
It’s capable of a 7.84 second run on the quarter mile with a trap speed of 177mph. Not too bad for a 6 -cylinder muscle car!
The 1973 Corvette, nicknamed the ‘Hater Maker’ has been turning heads and causing a stir since its engine swap, but now it’s making serious power, it’s turning heads for a different reason.
If you can get used to a classic Stingray emitting the sound of a 90’s Supra, then you’re golden. If you’re not, then just focus on the numbers instead.
I’m just looking forward to all the other engine swaps this is going to generate. Maybe a three rotor Camaro? Or an RB26DETT Dodge? I may be getting ahead of myself… Ignore me. I’m putting myself in seriously dangerous territory!
