Toyota Supra Goes Past Limited Top Speed In POV Autobahn Video
The initial re-launch version of the Toyota Supra caught a lot of flack. On one hand, it was underpowered, that’s not really up for debate anymore, it has 335 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque. On the other hand, it also has the car world’s version of a chastity-belt… an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
Well boy, today we get to see that limiter pushed a bit to the side, in a POV video from Youtube channel Cars on Autobahn.
As you can see in the video, the 155 mph top speed (249 km/h), was easily passed by a sizeable 8 mph or 14 kh/h. That’s not just a mile or two like one would expect.
This isn’t the first time this has happened. In fact, a search of Youtube will net you very similar results from these Supras.
A top speed of 163 mph or 263 km/h isn’t necessarily shabby, but begs the question of what might have been.
Where we may never know what would happen with no limiter at all, we soon will see what a more appropriately powered Supra can do. The 2021 model year Supras will come with a more reasonable 382 horsepower…
