Toyota Takes Hilarious Swipe At The Chevrolet Corvette

Although Corvette has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic pretty severely, demand for the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray remains at an all time high – so high in fact that buyers are having to wait until next year to take delivery of its brand new(ish) Stingray.

One automotive company, specifically Toyota, decided to take advantage of the backlog with some pretty clever marketing. One member of Corvette Forum spotted this billboard from Yokem Toyota in Shreveport, Louisiana. The hilarious sign reads, ‘Still Waiting On A Corvette? Come Get Your Supra.’ A rather entertaining and good humoured low blow if you ask me and one I shall well applaud.

In fairness too, the Toyota Supra comes in about $10k less than a brand new C8 and in 2021 will be available with a turbo four-pot to boot. Of course price isn’t everything and the Corvette being mid-engined, better looking and much much faster than the Supra.

It has approximately 113 more horsepower than the Supra’s BMW turbo inline-six with the naturally aspirated V8 pumping out 495 horsepower. So unless you are incredibly impatient, you’re much better waiting it out for the Corvette.

A good bit of marketing, done in good fun though. I hope the local Chevy dealership can quip up a swift retort allowing the ongoing Corvette vs Toyota battle to rage. I’ll be watching with a keen eye.
