Toyota To Reveal A New Small Crossover Based On The Yaris
Toyota is planning to reveal a small SUV at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, slotting just under the C-HR in the marque’s portfolio. It will be powered by the company’s latest hybrid powertrain, but while we expected it to be FWD like other small SUVs on the market, this will be AWD.
A teaser image has been released showing off the car in a dark setting. Its lights are thin, sat at the edge of the rear lip either side of the central Toyota badge that has a blue tinge to it reflecting its hybrid power. Two other badges at the bottom right spell ‘Hybrid’ and ‘AWD-i’.
A previous teaser for this car denoted a flat roofline, making it seem as though it would have plenty of luggage space compared to the larger C-HR. It will be taller, wider, and longer than the current Yaris, with a longer wheelbase and off-road-ready ride height. It will however share the TNGA-B platform and the 1.5-litre hybrid powertrain.
The car will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show on 3 March alongside the new models of Mirai, RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid, and GR Yaris for the European market.
