Koenigsegg Regera Sets 0-400-0KPH Record With Chiron In Sights

Apparently 2019 is the year of setting automotive speed and acceleration records. Bugatti set the production car top speed record, Tesla and Porsche are fighting for the fastest 4 door electric vehicle lap at the Nurburgring. Now Koenigsegg is getting in on the action by setting the 0 to 400KPH to 0 with its newest hypercar, the Regera.

On the Rada Airfield located in Sweden, the Regera lopped nearly two seconds off the Agera’s record with a time of 31.49 seconds. This is an astonishing time, I mean, what else could you do in thirty seconds? Not a lot! But now, you can accelerate a Regera up to stupendous speeds, then slam on the brakes and allow your face to slip off and hit the windscreen. Where do we go from now?

Koenigsegg factory test driver Sonny Persson was behind the wheel of the 1,487bhp hypercar for this record, where the car hit its limited top speed in only 22.87sec. From there, it took just over 8 seconds for the brakes to bring the car to a stop. But this isn’t good enough for the perfectionists at the Swedish marque.

“In better conditions a total length of under an unbelievable 2000m should be fully achievable with the Regera,” they said.

Big boss Christian von Koenigsegg isn’t afraid of hitting some big numbers though, and teases that a top speed attempt may be in the books. “That’s for another car – we have faster top speed cars of course,” he said. So ladies and gents, the Jesko may be on the Chiron’s tail. More to come.
