Lewis Hamilton Rumoured To Be Retiring After Cryptic Tweet From Mercedes F1 Team
After the release of a Twitter post from the Mercedes Formula 1 team, fans are now speculating as to whether this is a teaser to Lewis Hamilton retiring from the sport.
Last year, Max Verstappen took the win on the final race of the 2021 Formula 1 Season in what is said to be one of the most controversial moments of the sport. This resulted in him being crowned World Champion, but while many fans have expressed their distaste for what happened, Lewis has remained silent on the subject.
Lewis winning would have made him an 8-time world champion, but since he lost the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he’s made no comments to the press or on social media about what happened. In fact, he hasn’t posted at all, with his most recent post on Twitter being one from the race’s qualifying.

Hamilton currently has a contract with Mercedes that sees him race in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. But, after we all saw how the 2021 season came to an end, it’s been rumoured that Hamilton would be leaving the sport. To add more confusion to the situation, there are multiple sources backing both sides of this argument. However, this is nothing new for Hamilton, who is constantly being involved in such things.
We’ll have to wait to get confirmation from either Lewis or Mercedes on this question, but this brings us back to the recent tweet from the racing team.

Hamilton has a number of records to his name, including 103 total wins and 103 total poles. Of course, the record they’re likely referencing is becoming an 8-time world champion, but he’ll have to race in 2022 to achieve this.
Currently, he shares the record of 7 with Michael Schumacher, so 2022 could be a notable year for the sport.
Hamilton should permanently distance himself from F1 after the level of disrespect he received from the sport at the highest levels. I’ve never seen such disrespect directed towards one of the all-time greats in any sport. What we witnessed in Abu Dhabi was absolutely disgusting and disgraceful.
