McLaren 765LT Hits 1,000 Horsepower With A Simple Tune And Exhaust

There’s no denying, the McLaren 765LT is a far more superior car in comparison to the majority of supercars on the market. Not only is it based on the 720S, long considered the best supercar available to someone with a license, but McLaren has further tuned its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to produce a mind-boggling 765PS. That power level is even more shocking when you pair it with a weight of just 1,339kg.

M Engineering Has Taken Its Performance To The Next Level

But M Engineering has not got its hands on this potent British supercar, and the results are quite simply miraculous. With only a tune, a set of IPE downpipes, and a tank of race gas, the car now produces 894 wheel horsepower and 710 lb-ft of torque, which is sent straight to the rear wheels. At the crank, it’s producing over 1,000 horsepower.

Putting The Power Down At The Drag Strip

What else do you do with such a beast than take it to the drag strip? That’s what’s been done in this YouTube video above, where the car achieved a quarter-mile time of 8.916 seconds at 157.85 mph. In fact, this is the first 765LT to fall into the 8-second quarter-mile time.

But what does its 0-60mph time look like? Well, during one run, 60mph flew by in just 1.894 seconds. 150mph was hit in just 8.003 seconds. Wowsa.

The Future Of The 765LT

It won’t take a lot for people to start extracting even more power out of these cars, so let’s wait a while and see what hardware changes can be made and what those power increases look like. McLarens have always been very tunable, and it seems as though this one is no different.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
