Mercedes-AMG C63 S Performs Dangerous Burnout On Moving Flatbed

We love it when people do stupid things for our entertainment. Isn’t that the whole point of The Grand Tour? The latest stupid thing that we’ve caught wind of is a driver of a Mercedes-AMG C63 S doing a burnout. Doesn’t sound so ridiculous? Well he’s on the back of a flatbed, which is driving at speed down a public road.

Yea, it’s kinda cool, but it’s also incredibly dangerous. The flatbed is travelling down the snow-covered Saint Petersburg road while the Mercedes seemingly destroys its tyres. It’s not long until something goes wrong and the AMG slams into the back of the cab, damaging its front bumper and surely the vehicle it’s being towed by. It also swings slight to the side in a ass-clenching moment, damaging the rim slightly.

With such a powerful car and quickly warming tyres, I’m surprised something worse didn’t happen, but thankfully the straps did their job and kept the car, and other members of the public, out of harm’s way. There’s only so much you can do if a car with 503bhp sending that to its rear wheels gets free.

Yep, it made for a great viral Instagram video, but please don’t try to recreate this unless you’re on private land. Even if you forget the danger of the car on the flatbed, the tyre smoke that’s being created by the tortured tyres is adversely affecting the visibility of the drivers behind. In such weather conditions, this could be incredibly dangerous.

Regardless of this however, owners of C63s should enjoy their RWD cars while they last (in a safe environment) because it’s rumoured that the next fast C-Class will be losing its V8 powerplant and gaining a 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain instead. Thankfully, its bigger brother, the E63 AMG hangs onto its V8, and while is AWD, can turn off its front wheels when the driver uses Drift Mode. It’s not all bad news.
