Paraplegic Legend Rips BMW M2 A New One On Iconic Nurburgring Track Day

The Nurburgring is known to be a dangerous but exciting track with 154 corners and almost 21km of tarmac that challenges even the best drivers. Every week someone leaves the track to hit the barriers, and this trend won’t be stopping anytime soon. There are businesses literally built on the fact that people crash on this public toll road, and that tells you really all you need to know.

Well, a driver called Axel has shown all of us mere mortals how to take on the Green Hell, but there’s something very special about this talented driver. He’s paraplegic and only drives with his hands, and upon meeting Misha Charoudin, co-founder and brains behind the track car rental company Apex Nürburg, we got to know a bit more about him as Misha takes to the passenger seat in Alex’s modified BMW M2.

The accelerator can be controlled via either hand and the braking of the car is all through the right hand via a lever. Steering is obviously done through the wheel, but for someone like me, this would confuse the hell out of me. Axel – not so much.

Axel has serious pace behind the wheel despite his physical limitations, but these limitations don’t limit his speed on track as he reached 240km per hour and rips his M2 around the course. In fact, he’s so good, Misha wants Axel to join his racing team. Just goes to show, driving talents comes from the heart, not your limbs.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
