The Most Powerful Jaguar In History

Jaguar has just released the details of their latest special project, and it’s looking as though it may turn a few heads. This XE is made by Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations team and is going to be a limited edition, beefed up version of the original XE. More importantly, it’s going to sport a 591bhp power figure, making it the most powerful road-legal Jaguar in the company’s history.

This power will be made by the company’s 5.0-litre supercharged V8, its most powerful engine to be used on their products. Jaguar have also told us that the model will be limited to 300 vehicles – less than half the total of M4 GTSs ever built, so you can expect a large sticker price. Jaguar says:

“The price for such an extreme performance sports car available in strictly limited numbers will reflect [it].”

Jaguar hasn’t of yet given us any indication as to what’s been changed on the chassis, but as you can see from the photos it’s got a wider track with some aggressive arches covering what look to be wider tyres.

There’s also a lot of aerodynamic styling going on with splitters galore and the adjustable wing at the back. And look at those vents! All those horses obviously need a lot of fresh air to function, as do the brakes.

Following the patterns of previous SVRs, it’s a possibility that this XE will be getting an AWD system, too. That will certainly give it the upper hand over the rather raucous, rear wheel-driven M4 GTS.

It’s good to see Jaguar making the most out of their fleet, as we are much in need of a fast Jaguar saloon car. It’s a shame however, that it will be limited to only 300 units.

The Project 8 has already begun testing on the Nurburghring and will be showed off at Goodwood Festival of Speed later this year, with an official reveal date of June 28th.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
