Sneak Peak: The New McLaren P1 GT Long Tail

These days it’s not unheard of car manufactures building track-only cars, then selling them to the public, only to tell them they can’t take it home. And while this means the company, in this example, McLaren, can go completely mad and make it as fast and unruly as possible without having to adhere to any road rules, this does leave customers at a bit of a loose end. What if they want to take it home? What if they want a Sunday morning drive?

Thankfully, there are companies like Lanzante Motorsport who will take your McLaren P1 GTR and turn it into a roadworthy car from hell. They even took the base car and added 40% more downforce to it with help from a rear wing and front splitter.

These days however, they’re up to something even more astounding. They’re doing something that McLaren never did, and that’s build a long tail version of the P1 GTR. In the preview above you can see it’s been specced in a deep green which pays respects to the original F! Long Tail, but being exactly that, there will be some work at the rear which we haven’t been invited to see yet.

It’s rumoured to be a one off for an Arab gentleman, but let’s hope McLaren get a whiff and start to think about LTs of their own.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
