Sylvester Stallone Wears The Perfect Watch At The Italian Grand Prix With Max Verstappen

Sylvester Stallone was one of the many celebrities who were at Monza to watch the Italian Grand Prix, and while the focus was on the controversial end of the race as it came to a stop under the safety car, we were blown away by his choice of watch as he meets the winner of this weekend, Max Verstappen.

Lots of celebrities choose the most expensive timepiece they can afford, similar to their choice of cars. That’s why we see so many Lamborghinis and Mercedes G-Wagens on Instagram. They’re like Cartier of the car world and they’re boring as hell, albeit very expensive.

The actor, who has featured in films such as the Rocky franchise, Rambo, and Judge Dredd, was wearing a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona ‘Paul Newman’ (ref. 6241). This is one of the most legendary watches in the world, with it the perfect match for this iconic Grand Prix.

The Daytona model was first released in 1963 and has gone through three generations, and this watch, named after the American actor Paul Newman, is one of the rarest of the lot. In fact, this model is also the most expensive watch sold in the world, with one Paul Newman Rolex Daytona with the reference number 6239 selling for $17.75 million at an auction in 2017.

Stallone’s is a vintage Rolex Daytona “Paul Newman” with the reference 6421, and is one of the rarest watches in the world, making its price tag rather steep, even for a few F1 drivers on the grid. It has a beautiful tri-colour dial, the word “Daytona” stenciled onto the dial, and a Valjoux 722 movement.

This doesn’t come as a surprise, as Stallone is known to be a huge watch fanatic with him having plenty to wear from his large collection. On top of this, he has created the “Sly Tech” collection with Panerai back in the ’90s to great success.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
