The Toyota Supra Is Being Recalled By… Wait For It… BMW

Bad news for seven unlucky owners of the new Toyota A90 Supra, as news has come out that a recall will soon be on the books.

It’s being recalled by, you guessed it, BMW USA, who are saying there may be a problem with only seven of the Supras sold. Unlike the Z4, which the Supra shares its chassis and the majority of its parts with, the new GR Supra could have issues with the welding where the seatbelts attach to the chassis. Um, yes, it’s no wonder the Toyota dealers are going to be calling the new owners personally to let them know.

Thankfully though, if the issues are found to be present, the Supra will be entirely replaced, as these problems can’t be remedied with a simple repair. And I suppose Toyota, I mean BMW, don’t want to find themselves with a Supra seatbelt falling off in a head-on crash.

Toyota will be handling the recalls and inspections through their own dealers, and a letter will be sent if they can’t get through by phone. Then after the inspection, they might be asking if they want to try the new Z4 instead…
