Only days ago, the patent images for the upcoming BMW XM were leaked and this has seen fans of the brand erupt with opinions as they pull apart the design of the upcoming PHEV. As you can see from the images below, it will carry the larger grille seen on modern BMWs with narrow headlights and a square chin.
But it’s not easy to imagine this on the road when it’s coloured in greyscale and pencil lines. So Kolesa, one of our favourite renderers, has imagined what the XM will look like when BMW finally reveals the model later this year.
It’s the BMW’s M department’s 50th anniversary this year, so it’s no surprise that they’re pulling out the big stuff with this new super SUV. And from what Kolesa has put together, we’re getting excited over the future of the brand.
Overall, the design remains very similar to the original patent images. The only difference I can spot is the rear bumper, which is much smoother on the renders than the original images that sport some sort of diffuser element.
The car was finished in a metallic silver with a blue hue, a number plate added to the bumpers, and the BMW logo embedded into the hood. The lower portion of the car and arches have also been given plastic panelling, adding contrast to the flat design.
This car will be BMW’s second ever standalone model, with the first being the legendary BMW M1. This SUV will boast just as many numbers as that iconic supercar however, with it being expected to sport a 4.4-litre V8 and an electric motor good enough for 750 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. There’s no doubt it will be fast, and if this is true, will be the most powerful car ever to come out of BMW.♦ Follow Grand Tour Nation on Google News
