Top 5 Most Beautiful Classic Cars From Alfa Romeo In The World

“You can’t be a true petrolhead until you’ve owned an Alfa Romeo,” Jeremy Clarkson once said on a Top Gear episode. Now, I’ve never owned an Alfa Romeo, and I’m not sure I ever will now because of the rising costs of running the damn thing, but I am head over heels in love with the way they look. In fact, if I could get my hands on a 4C, I’d take a financial hit. Or maybe sell my wife?

Alfa Romeo was founded in 1910, and between now and then they’ve made some seriously pretty metal. Here are five of the best looking classic Alfas you can still get your hands on.

5. Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA

The GTA was based on the gorgeous Giulia saloon, specifically the Giulia Sprint GT. But this 1.6-litre engined car had an A added to its name. This stood for Alleggerita, meaning lightweight. And with the car weighing only 740kg, it was very quick when Alfa turned its head to racing.

It ended up winning the European Tourinc Car Championship five times between 1966 and 1971, but its performance is second only to its beautiful coupe bodyshape. This is very much worthy of a place on this list, albeit in fifth place.

4. Alfa Romeo Giulietta SS

The body of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta SS is sculpted to perfection. Not only is it a beautiful example of what Italians can do with some hammers and some metal, but it’s so aerodynamically perfect that from only a 100 horsepower 1.3-litre engine, it can reach 124mph. The engine, by the way, came straight from the Giulietta Sprint Zagato. Rather special. Its drag coefficient? 0.28.

The SS stood for Sprint Special, and only 1,366 examples of the car were ever made making it very rare.

3. Alfa Romeo Spider

The Alfa Romeo Spider was a model that lasted from 1966 to 1994. It went through a few itterations, yes, but each of them were gorgeous in their own way. Some more than others.

The design came from good ol’ Pininfarina, and it was inspired by the Giulietta SS Spider Aerodinamica. Obviously, customers loved it, and the model lived for three happy decades.

2. Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale

When Alfa Romeo built the Tipo 33, it was quickly named as being one of the best looking cars not only of Alfa Romeo, but ever. So it’s no surprise that the road-going version, built in 1967, has made it to this list.

This curvecsous, low-slung, elegant supercar oozes sex appeal while also being incredibly aerodynamically efficient.Only 18 were ever made, and currently sit at a value of around $10 million.

Being one of the first mid-engined supercars behind the Lamborghini Miura, the Tip 33 housed a 2-litre V8 engine that produces a gallant 270 horsepower. This maty not be a lot when compared to current standards, but its beauty makes up for everything it may lack at the rear wheels.

1. Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2

– UltimateCarPage.com

1965 brought the world one of the most beautoful cars to ever hit the road. This was the Giulia TZ2, and it boasted a tubular frame, fibreglass body, and power levels reaching higher than 100 horsepower per litre.

Its long front bonnet hid a 1.6-litre inline-4 engine that created a total of 170 horsepower. Weighing only 620 kg, you can imagine just how fast this thing felt. Plus, with its fully-adjustable suspension, it could take corners as good as it looked.

This is simply a masterpiece of a car, and truly worthy of top spot.

Alex started racing at a young age so certainly knows his way around a car and a track. He can just about put a sentence together too, which helps. He has a great interest in the latest models, but would throw all of his money at a rusty old French classic and a 300ZX. Contact: [email protected]
