Video: Top Fuel Dragster Reaches 338mph In Just 3.6 Seconds Breaking Records
There are so many incredible feats occurring within the motoring industry as of late. The Chiron has reached over 300mph, Bloodhound LSR is slowly making its way to another world record, and now, a Top Fuel dragster has made records in drag racing.
The talented driver of this incredible machine, Brittany Force, piloted the all-engine dragster to 1,000 feet in just 3.659 seconds at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. She crossed the line at 338.17mph, which is now the world record for highest speed at a 1,000 foot dash, alongside the time record she still holds which was set in 2018.
The previous record of 335.57mph set last year by Tony Schumacher was only slightly bested by Force, but the magnitude of this record shouldn’t be ignored.
1,000 feet, for those who don’t know, is just under a quarter of a mile, which stands at 1,320 feet. This distance is used by Top Fuel drag cars to improve safety, although I can’t think for the life of me how it would make much of a difference. But, when your vehicle possesses over 10,000bhp, a few hundred feet will make a real difference.
Force could be in for a chair gripping end of the championship as Steve Torrence leads by only 16 points as of this record breaking run. The championship will come to an end at the NHRA Finals from the 14th to the 17th of November.
