There are plenty of cars that I’d want to boot down the unrestricted Autobahn of Germany. But there are few that would give as pleasant an experience as an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.
Not only has the Aston got the performance to put plenty of cars in their place, but sitting within its seas of leather and metals, it’s hard to think of a nicer place to be. Press your right foot to the floor, though, and these thoughts will slip out of your mind as its twin-turbos spool and its 5.2-litre engine produces 715bhp and 664 lb-ft of torque.
0-62mph, as you can see from the video, comes and goes in just 4.23 seconds, and a quarter mile is eaten up in just 11.38 seconds. The sound of the magical V12 and fluttering turbos is only improved by the lightning quick changes of the 8-speed ZF gearbox which feeds the power to the rear wheels.
26 seconds go by, in which the car reaches 198mph before the driver lets off. What you must take from this is how easy such a thing was. It’s rare to have such luxury in a package that’s so dynamic and sports. But hey, I suppose £225,000 can get you a lot these days.♦ Follow Grand Tour Nation on Google News
