Watch Richard Hammond Review The Nissan Silvia S15

It’s easy to forget Richard Hammond’s humble beginnings before he took the life-changing step onto the stage of Top Gear in the early aughts. Before that, he took pride in his radio work, and his early car career in front of the cameras of Men and Motors. His reviews for this company can now be found on YouTube and you’ll find that they didn’t quite have the budget of Top Gear, and definitely not The Grand Tour.

In this video, he takes to the seat of the now legendary Nissan Silvia S15. It’s sought after now thanks to its drifting career and not many of them are still on the road. But while we look at these cars with wide eyes and drooling mouths, Hammond wasn’t too bothered. This specific car was a 1998 200SX with 25,000 miles on the clock.

He compliments its engine, calling it reliable and long-lasting, but admits that the car isn’t overly practical. “It’s rear-wheel drive and a bit medallion man and a bit whahh,” he says.

What do you think of the Silvia? Worthy of its fame? Tell us in the comments below.
